How do you look back at last season? Last year was a rough year. Bouncing back from injury to injury to injury. It takes a lot of energy. You want to put your energy toward the season.
What were the injuries? Sprained MCL. Broken nose. Spinal contusion. Collapse at halftime. Sprained shoulder. Concussion. Six injuries.
How did you endure? It was very irritating. It seems like you fight back from one thing and something else happens. You keep fighting and it's like you're fighting to get back to where you were instead of getting ahead of where you were.
Do you look at last season as a lost opportunity? I try to look at last year as a learning process. I tell myself that everything happens for a reason. I know the reason now.
What did you learn? No matter the situation, good or bad, you've got to keep fighting. You can never give up.
You're a senior, yet it still seems difficult to identify your role. Would you agree? Usually you get a feel for a player, but I don't know how to explain it. Everything happens for a reason. I feel like I have more to show.
What do you hope to show? I don't want to say I'm going to go out and I'm going to show this and I'm going to show that. I'm just going to do what I can. I do want to say I want to show more of my offensive game. I do want to say that. But I'm not going to say what exactly.
Why not say exactly? I don't want to say something I may not do. I don't know my full role on this team.
You've been a defensive stopper. Do you think of yourself as a defensive stopper? If you should want to call me that (go ahead). I don't want to say that I was this or I was that. I just do whatever I can to help the team. ... This year with this offense, I can really show I have an offensive style. I don't mind playing defense. I don't mind playing the (opponent's) best scorer. I just want to show I have more than that to me. That I can do more. To me, it's not about the whole glory thing.
