How do you feel about being seen as the player to step in for Jodie Meeks? I think it's a big responsibility. At the same time, I didn't get to see too many games. But I just know what he accomplished when he was here and during his time. So I think it's a big responsibility, but I think I can take it on.

Did you see Jodie Meeks score 54 points at Tennessee? I saw highlights. It was good. I was, like, he's good.

How intimidating is it to be expected to replace a guy who had the highest scoring average at Kentucky since 1970? It's not intimidating. It's kind of motivation.

Who else on UK's roster can provide consistent perimeter shooting? Or does the load fall solely on your shoulders? Jon Hood and Darius Miller, I think, shoot the ball very well. I think we have people around me who can shoot just as good as me.

What do you think about the perception that perimeter shooting might be UK's weak spot? I guess it just makes me look like I'm needed somewhere.

You originally signed with Pittsburgh. How influential was assistant coach Orlando Antigua in that decision? I didn't really know Coach Orlando until I got to Pittsburgh because he wasn't the one who recruited me. But when I was there, we (formed) a really strong relationship. He was somebody who always looked out for me, and he wasn't the person who was supposed to look after me.

When you failed to gain academic eligibility at Pittsburgh, how did you feel? It felt bad, obviously. But regardless of the situation that happened, I think everything happens for a reason. I'm here now, so I'm just ready to go forward.

Why did you follow John Calipari from Memphis to Kentucky? I really wanted to play for him, and I liked his dribble-drive system. ... What he's accomplished over his coaching career, and who he is, I just wanted to be somebody who played for him.
