London man wins CMT’s ‘Can You Duet’

Will Snyder and his singing partner to get record deal

LexGo.com staff report

A London man and his singing partner have won the CMT talent competition Can You Duet.

Will Snyder and Caitlin Lynn, of Glen Burnie, Md., were announced as the winners of the American Idol-style competition during Friday night’s broadcast.

The underdog duo, whose sound Snyder earlier described as “Southern country-rock,” beat out three other duos in the finale to win a record deal with Sony BMG Nashville. The runners-up were the heartthrob country rockers Nick Brownell and Jeremiah Richey, followed by husband and wife Joey Martin and Rory Feek and twins Kacey and Kate Coppola.

Upon winning, a teary Snyder and an aghast Lynn, who didn’t previously know each other and were the only duo left on the show paired up by judges earlier in the competition, thanked their fans. Snyder, who originally auditioned for the show with his cousin, Belvis Morgan, said he “would have never seen this happening. This is amazing.”

Snyder and Lynn, both 22, knocked out judges during the finale with their version of Keith Urban’s ballad Stupid Boy.

“Electrifying,” said judge Naomi Judd, herself a native of Ashland.

“I had chill bumps,” said another judge, songwriter Aimee Mayo.

Unlike similar shows, Can You Duet’s winners were determined by the judges, not by viewer votes.

Later in the hour, they performed a ballad called Love Is, which will be on their upcoming album. The song is available for download at www.cmt.com.
