The invitation handed to me by my colleague, Beverly Fortune, said Marylou Whitney and the board of directors of the Headley-Whitney Museum was inviting me to Brunch and Bibelots, a benefit for the museum's expansion program. Oh, dahling ... I couldn't wait.

Last Tuesday, at the end of the work day at the Herald-Leader, I noticed someone had put an envelope in my office mailbox. I opened it ... glanced at it ... a book signing for Jon Carloftis and Sue Wylie at L.V. Harkness ... and, it's tonight! Good Lord.
