UPDATED | Bath County man killed in I-64 crash

HERALD-LEADER STAFF REPORT

A Bath County man was killed Tuesday morning when his Chevrolet Cavalier was hit by a tractor-trailer on Interstate 64.

Kenneth R. McKenzie, 49, of Salt Lick had stopped because of an earlier crash in the westbound lanes when his car was hit by a truck driven by Denzil Hurt, 55, of Clay City. Hurt’s truck slid across the median into the eastbound lanes.

Hurt and an identified female passenger in his truck were taken to St. Claire Regional Medical Center. Hurt was treated and released; the passenger’s identity and condition were not known.

All involved were wearing seat belts, Kentucky State Police said.

The interstate was closed from about 4:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
