Catholic tourney has top 6 teams

Rarely do all of the state's top teams actually make it to the state tournament in Georgetown, but they will all make it to Lexington Catholic this week. The annual Lady Knights Challenge Cup boasts all of the top six girls' teams in the state according to the latest coaches' poll.

The tournament, which starts Monday, features No. 1 Sacred Heart, No. 2 Notre Dame, No. 3 Lexington Catholic, No. 4 Manual, No. 5 Woodford County, No. 6 Highlands as well as No. 13 Assumption and No. 14 Elizabethtown.

The Valkyries, who have won two straight state championships, are 7-0 and have given up just three goals all season. They will face No. 5 Woodford County, which also is unbeaten this season, in a first-round game on Tuesday.
