All Insight viewers to get Cats-Cards game

Next week's Kentucky-Louisville football game will be available to more TV viewers than last Saturday's UK-Miami (Ohio) season opener through an arrangement reached between Insight Communications and ESPN.

The UK-Louisville game on Sept. 19 is set for a noon kickoff on ESPNU.

Insight announced Thursday that all of its cable customers in Lexington and Louisville will be able to see the game regardless of whether or not their programming package includes ESPNU.

In Lexington, basic cable customers will see the game on Channel 6 and digital customers will see the game on Channels 514 (standard definition) and 922 (high definition). In Louisville, basic cable customers will see the game on Channel 11 and digital customers will see the game on Channels 514 (standard definition) and 922 (high definition).

Because of the magnitude of the UK-Louisville rivalry, Insight requested and received an exception from ESPN to make ESPNU available to additional customers. But Insight spokesman Jason Keller said this is a unique deal.

"As we move forward into football and basketball seasons, it is unlikely that we will be able to work out this arrangement for future games," he said.

At least three UK men's basketball games, including the Nov. 13 season opener vs. Morehead State, will be broadcast on ESPNU.

Keller said Insight offers a package of 50 digital channels that includes ESPNU for $10 a month.
