Guard Byrd to be at UK's Madness

Kentucky one of guard's top options

Prospect Russell Byrd plans to visit Kentucky during UK's Big Blue Madness weekend of Oct. 10.

Byrd, a 6-foot-7, 190-pound shooting guard, is a junior at Blackhawk Christian school in Fort Wayne, Ind.

His coach at Blackhawk Christian, Trent Lehman, said on Thursday that Byrd is also considering Michigan, Michigan State, Indiana and Ohio State.

"Kentucky wants him to come down and see how neat that time is," Lehman said of the Madness weekend. "Basketball is king there."

Byrd visited Michigan State last weekend. He plans to visit Ohio State at the end of September, Lehman said.

One of the nation's top big man prospects in the class of 2009, Daniel Orton of Oklahoma City, also plans to visit UK's Madness.

UK moves its women's clinic

Kentucky has changed the date of the women's clinic, "UK Basketball 2.0: The Newest Version," to Thursday, Oct. 9. The time and location of the clinic — 6-9 p.m. at the Memorial Coliseum and Joe Craft Center — remain the same. Call (800) 825-2875 or (859) 257-1916 for more details.

Game time for UK-LSU changed

The start time for the Kentucky-Louisiana State basketball game on Feb. 28 in Lexington has been changed to 4 p.m. It will still be carried on CBS.
