UK women pick up pair of top-100 recruits

A pair of high school teammates ranked in the ESPN HoopGurlz top 100 will sign with the University of Kentucky women's basketball team this week, ESPN.com reported Tuesday.

Jeniece Johnson and Bernisha Pinkett, from Woodson High School in the Washington, D.C., area, visited UK last weekend, according to the report. Johnson, ranked No. 46 for the class of 2009, is one of the tallest players in the nation at 6-foot-6. Pinkett is listed as a 5-7 combo guard.

Their high school coach, Frank Oliver, said the players originally committed to North Carolina State but reopened their recruitment after the death of Coach Kay Yow.
