Christ Church Cathedral priest Rev. Janey Wilson and parishioner Dr. John Perrine waited while offering ashes at Cheapside Park in Lexington on Wednesday. One person who knew in advance through Twitter was waiting when they arrived, but no others walked up during the lunch hour. They were offering the "ashes without a sermon" on Ash Wednesday.
An accident at Martin Luther King Blvd and East High Street Thursday morning required firefighters to use the jaws of life to extract occupants of one of the vehicles.
Lexington firefighters used the jaws of life to extricate a man from a car involved in a two-vehicle wreck in front of 1601 Versailles Road. Versailles Road was blocked because of the accident.
Herald-Leader - Lexington fire investigators worked at the scene of an overnight house explosion at 457 Campbell Street in Lexington Monday. Columbia Gas restored gas service to the house Dec. 12, but no gas had been consumed in the house as of Friday when a meter reader visited the house, gas company officials said. A bicyclist rode on South Limestone shortly after the snow started falling early Tuesday morning. Light to moderate snow is expected through Tuesday afternoon.
