It's just about time for opera fans to head back to the movies.
The Metropolitan Opera Live HD broadcasts to movie theaters resume for a fourth season with nine productions from October to May. Here's the schedule:
Oct. 10: Giacomo Puccini's Tosca, featuring Luc Bondy and Karita Mattila. (Encore Oct. 28.)
Oct. 24: Giuseppe Verdi's Aida, with Violeta Urmana in the title role. (Nov. 11.)
Nov. 7: Puccini's Turandot with Maria Guleghina in the title role and Marcello Giordani as Calaf. (Nov. 18.)
Dec. 19: Jacques Offenbach's The Tales of Hoffman featuring Anna Netrebko. (Jan. 6.)
Jan. 9: Richard Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier starring Renée Fleming as Marschallin and Susan Graham as Octavian. (Jan. 27.)
Jan. 16: Georges Bizet's Carmen with Elina Garanca in the title role. (Feb. 3.)
Feb. 6: Verdi's Simon Boccanegra starring tenor Placido Domingo in the baritone title role. (Feb. 24.)
March 27: Ambroise Thomas' Hamlet with Simon Keenlyside in the title role and Natalie Dessay as Ophelia. (April 14.)
May 1: Gioachino Rossini's Armida with Fleming in Mary Zimmerman's production. (May 19.)
All of the performances are at 1 p.m. for the first shows and 6:30 p.m. for the encores. They will be screened at the Regal Hamburg Pavilion, Cinemark Fayette Mall and Cinemark at Richmond Centre.
