The Madrigal Singers of Lafayette High School in Lexington won two silver medals at the 2012 World Choir Games, called "the Olympics of choral music," in Cincinnati over the weekend.
The 30-member choir, directed by Ryan Marsh, took silver in the musica sacra contest on Friday and in the mixed youth champions competition on Saturday.
Several other Kentucky groups are competing, but the Lafayette choir is the only one from Lexington.
The World Choir Games, which began Wednesday, bring vocal groups from around the world to the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area through July 14. The festival includes more than 250 concerts.
Never miss a local story.
This is the seventh games, which are held every two years, but the first time they have been in the United States.
