Fleck and Thile will bring their duo show to the Lexington Opera House, 401 West Short Street, at 7 p.m. Sept. 11.
The common thread through the musicians is taking their instruments, primarily associated with traditional music, and stretching them beyond their usual genres into such fields as jazz and classical music. Fleck, a one-time Lexington resident, is a 30-time Grammy Award nominee who has taken 16 of the trophies home. Thile’s star has risen as a solo artist and leader of bands, including Nickel Creek and The Punch Brothers. Earlier this year, he was named to succeed Garrison Keillor as host of the NPR staple, “A Prairie Home Companion.”
Tickets to the Troubadour Concert Series show are $75.50 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at the Lexington Center Ticket Office, all Ticketmaster outlets, by calling 859-233-3535, or visiting Lexingtonoperahouse.com.
