Baroque Trumpet Day
The historic instrument will be celebrated with a free class and concert Saturday. Called a baroque trumpet because its repertoire comes from the baroque era in works by composers such as Bach, Handel and Vivaldi, it lacks valves like the modern trumpet. Events include a 3 p.m. master class in the UK Fine Arts Building, Room 22, led by the U.S. Army Old Guard Historical Trumpet Ensemble, and a 7 p.m. concert at Christ Church Cathedral, 166 Market Street. Several UK baroque trumpet students will join the Army group for the concert. Both events are free. Uktrumpet.com.
