Chef Ouita Michel, owner of Holly Hill Inn in Midway, was named as a semifinalist for the James Beard Foundation Award, an honor for culinary professionals, on Thursday.
Michel was nominated for the Best Chef in the Southeast award for the fourth consecutive year, according to a news release from Holly Hill Inn. Winners will be announced during the foundation's gala on May 9 in New York City.
Three other Kentuckians were also nominated for awards.
Chefs Anthony Lamas of Seviche in Louisville and Edward Lee of the 610 Magnolia in Louisville were also nominated for the Best Chef in the Southeast Award. Julian P. Van Winkle III of Van Winkle Distillery in Louisville was nominated for an outstanding wine and spirits professional award.
The James A. Beard Foundation Awards honors chefs and restaurants across North America.
