Here's a quick look at how TV critic Rick Bentley rates this year's new batch of network TV shows.
Whitney (NBC): Smartest comedy with female lead since Murphy Brown. Grade: A-.
Grimm (NBC): Fairy tales can come true, but few people live happily ever after. Grade: B+.
The Secret Circle (CW): This tale of witches isn't magical, but it could cast a spell on young viewers. Grade: B+.
Never miss a local story.
Prime Suspect (NBC): Maria Bello is no Helen Mirren, but she's pretty good in this cop drama. Grade: B.
Two Broke Girls (CBS): Oh, waitress! There are a lot of funny jokes in my soup. Grade: B.
Terra Nova (Fox): Welcome to Jurassic ... oops, wrong dinosaur park. Grade: B-.
Person of Interest (CBS): Stopping crime before it happens. Interesting, yes. Great, no. Grade: B-.
Unforgettable (CBS): This story of a woman with perfect memory is good but forgettable. Grade: C+.
Pan Am (ABC): The take-off of this series about the airlines, set in the '60s, is a little bumpy. Grade: C+.
Once Upon a Time (ABC): This tale of fairy tale characters living in the real world makes Lost look logical. Grade: C+.
Revenge (ABC): Back-stabbing in the Hamptons. No, it's not a documentary. Grade: C+.
The X-Factor (Fox): Another music competition show. It should be called The Why Factor. Grade: C.
Suburgatory (ABC): Jokes about the suburbs are not urbane. Grade: C.
How to Be a Gentleman (CBS): Please get better jokes about remaking a man with manners. Thank you. Grade: C.
The Playboy Club (NBC): This look at the Chicago Playboy Club in the '60s is all T&A: tedious and aggravating. Grade: C-.
New Girl (Fox): Zooey Deschanel as a new roommate is adorable and annoying. Grade: C-.
Last Man Standing (ABC): Tim Allen plays a macho man with three kids. Needs more home improvement. Grade: C-.
Up All Night (NBC): You won't lose sleep over this comedy about new parents. Grade: C-.
Free Agents (NBC): They dumped Outsourced for this workplace comedy? Grade: C-.
Charlie's Angels (ABC): The three female detectives are pretty and ... did I mention they were pretty? Grade: C-.
A Gifted Man (CBS): A doctor who talks to dead people. Grade: C-.
Ringer (CW): CBS rejected this show about twin sisters. So will you. Grade: D+.
Hart of Dixie (CW): Rachel Bilson plays a country doctor. Was rocket scientist taken? Grade: D.
I Hate My Teenage Daughter (Fox): I hate this show about mothers and their teenage daughters. Grade: D-.
Man Up (ABC): Comedy about guys trying to find their macho sides is like Friends without all the jokes. Grade: D-.
H8R (CW): Celebs meet people who hate them. H8ed it. Grade: F.
Allen Gregory (Fox): A lame animated series about an annoying elementary school student. Sadly, it's not a Bart Simpson spinoff. Grade: F.
