New York artist Scott LoBaido was in Lexington on Tuesday painting a flag mural on the front wall of VFW Post 680 on
LoBaido is traveling around the country, painting the flag on one veterans' post in each state. Kentucky is the 45th state on his tour, which started in North Carolina on Feb. 20.
He chose VFW Post 680, LoBaido said, because it had a blank wall, which he discovered by looking at the street view on Google.
The flag murals help draw attention to the sacrifices veterans made to protect our country, LoBaido said, and are his way of saying thanks.
The tour is sponsored by Home Depot, Behr paint and others, so there is no cost to the veterans' posts.
The murals typically take one to three days to complete, depending on their size.
