Hayden sets state scoring record in win

Another week, another state record for Domonique Hayden.

The Lexington Christian star running back scored two more touchdowns in Friday night's 42-0 win over Fairview to break the state record for career points.

Hayden now has 723 points as an Eagle, which is one more than Herbie Phelps, who played for Old Kentucky Home in the early 1960s.

The LCA senior broke the state record for career touchdowns last week.

Hayden now has 119 total touchdowns and 102 rushing touchdowns for his career. He needs eight more rushing touchdowns to tie Derek Homer's state record of 110.

Hayden ran 22 times for 165 yards Friday night, teaming up with LCA quarterback Lucas Witt (14-for-22 for 200 yards and four TDs) to keep the Eagles offense rolling.

The LCA defense posted a shutout for the fourth consecutive week. Scout McCamy had an interception and a fumble recovery to account for two of the unit's four forced turnovers.

The Eagles' only loss this season was a 27-26 defeat to Lexington Catholic on Sept. 25. Since then, LCA (8-1) has outscored its opponents 200-0.

No. 17 Lexington Catholic 51, West Jessamine 14: Greg Raglin ran for six touchdowns and 194 yards to help the host Knights send West Jessamine to its second consecutive loss.

Raglin had scoring runs of 16, 2, 2, 24, 20 and 43 yards and led a LexCath ground offensive that gained 271 yards.

Lexington Catholic kicker Benton Hupman booted a 51-yard field goal in the third quarter.

West Jessamine did its part in the rushing game, going for 300 yards on 46 carries. Duke Brown had 20 runs for 137 yards. The Colts attempted just six passes, two of which went for touchdowns.

West Jessamine lost for the second straight week after getting off to a 7-0 start to the season.

The Knights (6-3) have won four of their last five games.

No. 21 Bryan Station 51, Paul Dunbar 13: Tevin McCaden, the state's leading rusher, ran 18 times for 206 yards and four touchdowns to add to his already gaudy numbers in a victory at Paul Dunbar.

McCaden, who scored three of his touchdowns in the first half before finding the end zone for the final time midway through the third quarter, topped 2,000 rushing yards for the season. He now has 2,007 through nine games.

McCaden helped the Defenders (7-2) get out to a 34-6 lead by halftime, all but ensuring a second consecutive win over the rival Bulldogs.

Brady Boling made the most of limited opportunities at quarterback, going 4-for-6 for 119 yards and two more Bryan Station touchdowns.

The Bulldogs' offense finally found the end zone on Trent Martin's 20-yard touchdown pass to Kendall Davis with 1:18 left in the fourth quarter. Their only other score came on Jordan Perkins' 60-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the second quarter.

Clark County 34, Madison Central 17: Senior Josh Webb scored touchdowns on offense and defense, and the visiting Cardinals dropped Madison Central to 0-8 on the season.

Webb had a 26-yard interception return for a score and a 3-yard touchdown run.

Oldham County 10, Anderson County 7: Jake Weigel kicked a 23-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter to hand Anderson County its first loss of the season.

The Bearcats (8-1) had one last possession to keep their perfect season alive, but they turned over the ball on downs with 13 seconds left on the Oldham 24.

The host Colonels (6-3) outgained Anderson County 225-138 in the defensive struggle. The teams combined for 10 punts and one turnover, an Oldham County fumble.

Tyler Oldham put the Colonels ahead 7-0 with a 15-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter.

Dustin Combs matched that with a 3-yard run midway through the third, but that would be the Bearcats' only score.

No. 20 Covington Catholic 39, No. 25 Dixie Heights 34: Senior quarterback Brayden Erpenbeck had a hand in four touchdowns, and visiting Covington Catholic held off the Colonels.

Erpenbeck completed 17 of 35 passes for 224 yards and one touchdown but did most of his damage on the ground. He ran 26 times for 212 yards and three touchdowns, including two scores in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

Senior quarterback Ryan Wilson was 21-for-31 for 373 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for a score.

Frankfort 48, Trimble County 0: Senior Marcus Washington scored on a run, a catch and a fumble recovery to help the host Panthers roll past Trimble County.

Frankfort junior quarterback Dylan Quinn was 7-for-10 passing for 185 yards and three touchdowns.

Raceland 27, Russell 15: Tyler Farley ran for a touchdown and threw for three more to send the Rams to a home win over Russell.

After his 1-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, Farley threw scoring passes of 70 and 35 yards to Johnny Shearer and a 21-yarder to Jeremy Barr.

Pikeville 56, Painstville 6: Junior Taylor Ratliff returned a kickoff for a touchdown for the sixth time this season, and the host Panthers won the 8th District title with the victory.

Junior Ross McCoy had two rushing touchdowns and Josh Tackett had two scores — one on a reception, the other on an interception return — to stake Pikeville to a 42-6 lead by halftime.

Ratliff returned the opening kickoff of the second half 75 yards for a touchdown.
