SEC Player of the Year
Patrick Patterson, Kentucky
Kentucky was nearly a unanimous pick to win the Southeastern Conference regular-season and Eastern Division championships in the 2009-10 men's basketball season, and junior forward Patrick Patterson was chosen SEC Player of the Year, according to a poll of conference and national media members released Monday afternoon.
UK received all but two of the 25 votes to win the Eastern Division. For the overall championship balloting, UK received all but five of the votes.
The media has not voted Kentucky the favorite to win the Eastern Division since the 2005-06 season. The Cats were picked third the past two seasons
Patrick Patterson was a unanimous pick to to the pre-season first team. Freshman teammate John Wall was named to the second team.
Patterson received 11 votes for Player of the Year, followed by Wall (six votes), and Varnado and Downey (three votes each) and Smith (two).
