UK junior sprinter Rondel Sorrillo ran the third-fastest time 100-meter dash in school history (10.22 seconds) and finish fifth in the event at the NCAA Track and Field Outdoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark.
Earlier in the day, Kentucky's men's 4x100-meter relay team (Sorrillo plus junior Kwasi Obeng and seniors Gordon McKenzie, and Jose Acevedo were sixth, crossing the finish in 39.27.
On the women's side, senior Ashley Trimble finished 14th in the women's heptathlon with 5,459 points. In the final event of the heptathlon, she placed second in the 800-meter run with a personal-best time of 2:11.32.
Three Cats will be in action on Saturday, the final day of the championships.
At 11 a.m., seniors Chase Madison and Rashaud Scott will compete in the final of the men's discus. After three qualifying-round throws, Scott was fourth at 193-8, while Madison was 10th at 187-9. Scott is defending his 2008 national title in the event.
Sorrillo will run in the men's 200-meter dash final at approximately 1:42 p.m.
