Bett dismissed from UK women's team

After several weeks of disciplinary measures, Catina Bett has been officially dismissed from the Kentucky women's basketball team for what is being called a violation of team rules.

"I have dismissed Catina Bett from the UK Hoops team today," Coach Matthew Mitchell said in a statement released by the UK media relations department. "We wish her well in all of her future endeavors."

Bett, a 6-foot-6 sophomore from Gadsden, Ala., played in 19 of UK's 32 games this season, averaging 2.4 points, three rebounds and nearly 10 minutes.

She had not played in a game since Feb. 1 versus Mississippi. Her most significant minutes were in the Cats' season opener against Michigan, when she scored eight points and grabbed four rebounds in 21 minutes.
