- The Roebling Suspension Bridge over the Ohio River at Covington is getting a paint job, but it won't be the "Kentucky Wildcat blue" that the Covington City Commission famously requested in mid-2001. The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that the forerunner to New York City's Brooklyn Bridge is getting protective paint for its rusting superstructure that will be a darker shade of blue than it is now.
- The nation's most profitable airline is small but nimble Allegiant Air. The St. Petersburg Times reports on the airline that has flights out of Blue Grass Airport, as well as other smaller airports around the U.S. "The airline squeezes a nickel harder than anyone. Allegiant flies aging jets to small airports, usually just two or three times a week to ensure full loads," according to the story.
- The United States Postal Service has issued a series of stamps to honor the U.S. Supreme Court. Louis D. Brandeis, Supreme Court justice from Louisville who served from 1916 through 1939, is one of four jurists honored by the stamp set. The law school at the University of Louisville is named for Brandeis.
- Jenna Bush Hager, daughter of former president George W. Bush, will be speaking in Paducah, according to a news report. She will be at the Jan. 21 Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce meeting and will be speaking about the relationship between education and business.
