NICHOLASVILLE — Gary E. Morgan has been appointed by Gov. Steve Beshear as the new Jessamine Fiscal Court magistrate. Morgan will fill the unexpired term of Duane McCuddy.
Morgan, a Democrat who lives in Nicholasville, was sworn in Monday by Jessamine Judge-Executive Neal Cassity. Morgan's first fiscal court meeting is 4 p.m. Tuesday at the courthouse.
Never miss a local story.
Morgan will represent District 6, which covers southwestern portions of Nicholasville. He ran for the office in the 2002 Democratic primary.
McCuddy resigned Sept. 2 as magistrate to become the new director for Nicholasville-Jessamine County Parks and Recreation. He had to resign as magistrate because the fiscal court contributes to Parks and Rec's $600,000 annual budget.
The four-year term expires at the end of 2010.
