A Knott County man died Thursday morning after the chair he was sitting in apparently caught fire.
Roy Short, 67, of Mousie was found after Division of Forestry firefighters driving on Ky. 550 saw flames coming from a porch. They found Short with his clothes on fire in a chair that was also on fire, said Knott County Coroner Jeff Blair. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is possible Short was smoking, but the cause of the fire and his death have not been determined, Blair said. Fire marshals inspected the scene Thursday and Kentucky State Police arson investigators are expected to visit on Friday, Blair said. No foul play is suspected.
An autopsy is scheduled Friday.
