The Paris man charged with murdering a 6-year-old boy whose body was found in a car garage in August 2007 will stand trial in Bourbon County, a judge ruled Monday.
Circuit Judge Robert Johnson denied a motion by defense attorneys for Lewis "Buck" Ballard to move the trial out of Bourbon County, according to the Bourbon Circuit Court Clerk's Office.
Ballard's trial is scheduled to begin Feb. 4.
Ballard has been charged with murder and first-degree sodomy in connection with the slaying of Wesley Mullins of Winchester. The boy's body was found Aug. 4, 2007, in a garage at 1406 South Main Street in Paris.
The garage has been torn down. A building to house a non-profit organization is being constructed to replace the garage and neighboring homes.
Ballard will return to court 1:30 p.m. Jan. 8 for a hearing.
