A 10-hour standoff Sunday in Whitley County ended with a man who was barricaded in a house shooting and killing himself.
Kentucky State Police declined to identify the man pending notification of next of kin.
Police were called at 1:42 p.m. to a residence on Hackler Street in Woodbine. A man with a handgun and refused to come outside the home. There was a domestic altercation earlier, but the victim had left the house, according to a state police press release.
Police established communication with the man, but he broke it off with police at 11:44 p.m.
A gunshot was heard, officers went inside and found the man, who died of an apparent gunshot wound, according to the release.
