A Flemingsburg woman died Wednesday morning in a house fire as she tried to rescue her dog from the blaze, Fleming County Deputy Coroner Gary Workman said.
Brenda Williams, 42, died of smoke inhalation, according to an autopsy conducted in Frankfort Wednesday morning.
Williams and her husband, Charles "Chuck" Williams, 50, escaped through a window in a first-floor bedroom of the two-story house in the 600 block of Foxspring Avenue. Workman said Brenda Williams died after she went back into the house to rescue the dog, Angel.
The fire was reported shortly before 2 a.m.

Charles Williams, the couple's son, Jesse Williams, 21, and their son's girlfriend were taken to Fleming County Hospital where they were all listed in good condition Wednesday afternoon.
Flemingsburg Fire Chief Jerry McCloud said investigators had not determined the cause, but it appeared that the fire started on the first-floor between a bathroom wall and a living room wall, in the center of the house.
