A bicyclist died after collapsing in south Lexington while riding to work Monday morning.
Scott Brown was crossing the street at Wellington Way and Cornwall Drive when he collapsed, witnesses told police.
It was initially thought he had been struck by a car, Lexington police spokesman officer Chris Sutton said.
Police officers performed CPR until an ambulance arrived and took him to St. Joseph Hospital, Sutton said.
Never miss a local story.
Brown was an avid cyclist who had worked for the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government for nearly 23 years, said Susan Straub, spokeswoman for Mayor Jim Newberry. He was a financial management administrator in the Division of Accounting, she said.
