NICHOLASVILLE — A 34-year-old woman died Wednesday morning after she was pinned between a car and a trailer that had detached from a moving van, police said.
Casey Bramblett died of blunt force trauma to her chest and abdomen, said Jessamine County Coroner Keri Sallee. Bramblett, her husband and two children were preparing to leave Wednesday in a move to Florida, Sallee said.
"The last thing they had to do was load the car upon the trailer and they were heading out," Sallee said.
The incident happened on Thames Circle about 10:15 a.m., Nicholasville Assistant Police Chief John Branscum said.
Never miss a local story.
"Apparently the trailer was hooked up to the moving van, and the husband was backing the moving van, and the trailer somehow came undone from the truck," Branscum said.
Sallee said Bramblett was apparently trying to stop the trailer from hitting a parked passenger car.
"So she went in between it and the car thinking maybe she could stop it," Sallee said.
"Somehow she lost her footing, and the trailer rolled up over her and pushed her into the car," Branscum said. "The injuries were so severe that it was a fatality."
