The Kentucky Council of Churches has named the Rev. Marian McClure Taylor of Louisville as its executive director.
The council is a collaboration of some 2,000 churches in Kentucky for social ministry. The council also has a voice in Kentucky politics.
Taylor is now the North American representative of Edinburgh 2010, the celebration of a world missionary conference in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1910, that challenged Christians to cooperate in evangelism.
From 1997 to 2006, she was director of the Presbyterian Church (USA)'s worldwide ministries division.
Never miss a local story.
Taylor will replace the Rev. Nancy Jo Kemper, who is retiring in June. Kemper had been the council's executive since 1991.
