NICHOLASVILLE — A third employee of the Jessamine County jail faces a drug-trafficking charge, Nicholasville police said Friday.
Jail Deputy David Perkins was charged with misdemeanor trafficking in a prescription drug that is not a controlled substance, said police spokesman Officer Scott Harvey.
Perkins received a summons to appear in Jessamine District Court, Harvey said.
The charge follows the arrests earlier this week of two other jail employees, Capt. Mike Rigney and Dana Denise Whitlock, on charges of trafficking in controlled substances.

The three were charged as the result of an undercover investigation that began in October 2008.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and expect more charges and possibly more arrests.
