About eighty firefighters responded to a fire at the Garden Brook apartment complex, 1340 Alexandria Drive, on Monday night.
The building was not occupied, and no one was injured, Lexington Fire Chief Robert Hendricks said.
Hendricks said the building had 16 apartments in it, and half of them were burned to some extent.
The apartments are being renovated, Hendricks said. The property is operated by Rednour Properties.

Some of the other buildings in the complex are occupied, and some residents were evacuated, Hendricks said.
The cause of the fire was not known Monday night; investigators were on the scene.
Firefighters were called at 8:54 p.m. They fought the flames for more than an hour.
The Salvation Army sent a disaster services truck just before 10 p.m. to serve beverages and snacks to the firefighters.
