A Mercer County man died Sunday when a tree fell on him as he tried to cut it down.
Anthony Woodard, 25, was cutting down the tree in the Mallard Cove subdivision in Burgin when it fell just before 2 p.m.
Mr. Woodard was unable to get out of the way, Coroner Sonny Ransdell said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Never miss a local story.
Mr. Woodard, who lived in Burgin, worked as a heavy-equipment operator for Claunch Construction Co. but he did tree work on the side, Ransdell said.
He had two sons and a daughter.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel in Harrodsburg. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
