Contractors for the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government's Division of Water Quality will conduct manhole inspections and sanitary sewer smoke testing and inspections Monday to Friday.
Signs will be placed in the areas of the inspections, and the technicians will wear name tags. Residents might see smoke coming from the vent pipes of buildings during the smoke testing. The smoke is non-toxic, but people with heart problems, emphysema or other breathing problems, confined invalids, sleeping shift workers and those who keep pets in locked basements should take special precautions.
