A 25-year-old man from Mount Sterling died and a 12-year-old was injured after a moped crash in Clay City Saturday.
The driver of the moped, Andrew Denniston, ran a stop sign at the intersection of 9th Avenue and 11th Street at about 11 a.m., said Fayette County Deputy Coroner John McCarty. A Chevrolet Tahoe towing a box trailer was already in the intersection, and the moped hit the trailer.
Denniston and his passenger were taken to the University of Kentucky Hospital, where Denniston was pronounced dead at 12:15 p.m. Saturday, McCarty said. He had not been wearing a helmet.
The child also was taken to UK with non-life-threatening injuries.
