Two women died Tuesday after a head-on collision that also involved a sport-utility truck driven by a Kentucky State Police detective, authorities said.
Lorene Dollarhide, 59, of Whitesburg and Billie Combs, 52, of Happy were pronounced dead at the accident scene on Ky. 15 in Glomawr in Perry County.
Dollarhide was traveling north toward Hazard in a 2001 Buick LeSabre when she crossed into the southbound lane and struck Combs' 2000 Chevrolet Malibu, police said.
Detective Tim Engle was driving a 2007 Ford Explorer south on Ky. 15. He was unable to avoid the crash and was struck by Dollarhide's car.

Police were investigating the accident.
