PIKEVILLE — The Humane Society of the United States is offering $2,5000 rewards for information leading to the abusers of two dogs found Monday in Pike County.
One dog, a female Labrador retriever-German shepherd mix, was found by a roadside with two legs broken in a shotgun blast. She is in critical condition, according to a press release from the Humane Society. United Rescues of Kentucky is handling her care.
A male black Labrador retriever was found wandering the streets with an arrow through his chest. He survived, and his care is being handled by the Louisville-based Shamrock Foundation.
Last month, a terrier mix was found just north of Pikeville severely burned with hot grease, a broken jaw, gouged eye and cut tail. The Humane Society is also offering a reward in that case.
THe Humane Society asked that anyone with information call the Pike sheriff's office: (606) 432-6260.
