A woman is dead after her minivan hit a school bus on Ky. 33 in Versailles Thursday morning.
Mearion Smith, 30, of Versailles, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
According to police, Smith's vehicle crossed the center line of the roadway and struck a Woodford County school bus almost head-on.
The bus carried five special needs children. One of them was taken to Bluegrass Hospital in Versailles with minor injuries, police said.

The bus driver, Debra Pierce of Versailles, also suffered minor injuries; she and two monitors who were assisting the children on the bus were taken to Bluegrass Hospital.
Police are still determining the cause of the accident.
