Midway College President Dr. William Drake Jr. announced Wednesday that the James Graham Brown Foundation has donated $500,000 toward the college's new Learning Resource Center.
The $5 million center, which is already under construction, has reached the $3.7 million fund-raising mark, Drake said in a news release.
The building, scheduled for completion in January 2011, will house classrooms, laboratories for the equine and nursing programs and space for the school's online campus.
James Graham Brown, a lumberman, horseman, and entrepreneur, made most of his money in the timber industry. He commissioned his foundation to improve the local and national perception of Kentucky, and it has distributed $458.8 million since it was incorporated in 1954.
