Fayette County Public Schools has proposed two minor changes to upcoming redistricting plans for some Lexington elementary schools.
The overall redistricting plan will be up for approval by the Fayette County Board of Education at 6 p.m. Monday. The meeting will be at the board office, 701 East Main Street.
Changes would take effect at the start of the 2011-12 school year. The proposed changes concern boundaries for Garden Springs Elementary School and a new elementary school to be built on Keithshire Way.
In one proposed change, a small area immediately south of Old Higbee Mill Road at Clemens Drive will remain in the Garden Springs attendance zone. The original plan would have put it in Stonewall Elementary's zone. About five homes will be affected, school system officials say.

The second change would shift the Willow Oak neighborhood from Picadome Elementary to the new Keithshire Way school. Willow Oak residents had urged the change, contending their neighborhood lacks direct street connection to Picadome, and Keithshire would be more accessible.
The rest of the proposed redistricting plan, which was unveiled in January, remains unchanged. It sets attendance boundaries for the new school on Keithshire, which doesn't have a name yet. And it adjusts boundaries for five other elementary schools to ease overcrowding.
