A Harrison County deputy sheriff euthanized a horse Thursday morning after a car sped off a Harrison County road and into a barn, injuring the horse and setting the barn on fire.
According to the Harrison County Sheriff's Office, 21-year-old Adam Smith lost control of his car when he approached a sharp curve on Ky. 32 with too much speed. His car went off the road and hit the barn, striking the horse and igniting the building.
Smith was unharmed, but the horse suffered a broken leg. The barn's owner asked Deputy Sheriff Steve McCauley to euthanize the horse.
"He arrived on the scene and saw that the horse was suffering," McCauley said. "I put it down humanely."
