A 2-year-old girl was in critical condition Monday night after being severely injured at a Lexington apartment complex.
Lt. Chris Van Brackel of the Lexington police said the department's Crimes Against Children detectives are investigating. He declined to identify the child or provide information about how she was injured.
He said police got a call at 1:57 p.m. about an unresponsive child at the Fox Run Apartments, 1840 McCullough Drive.
He said the fire department arrived first and took the child to the University of Kentucky Hospital.
"They were able to get her breathing again in the ambulance," he said.
Van Brackel said a babysitter had been caring for the girl at the time she was injured.
