The burn ban in Fayette County has been lifted. Battalion Chief Marshall Griggs said this weekend's rainfall and cool temperatures allowed the fire department to once again allow open burning by permit.
Standard fire restrictions — such as keeping covered fire pits at least 10 feet from homes and prohibition of grills on the decks of multi-family dwellings — still apply.
The Lexington fire department put the ban in place earlier this month because of unusually dry, hot weather.
