Police released the name Friday of the man whose leg was severed in a Lexington car accident Thursday night.
Carmillo Cruz of Lexington, a lawn-care worker, was loading equipment into a parked trailer on Dennis Drive when he was hit by the car, pinning him and severing his leg, police said. Cruz was taken to University of Kentucky Hospital. His age was not available.
Matthew P. Callahan, 44, of Lexington, told police he was traveling west about 8 p.m. when he was blinded by the sun. Callahan was driving a white 2010 Dodge Charger.
Callahan was taken to Central Baptist Hospital for observation.
