Two 19-year-old men were arrested Wednesday after an investigation by the Pulaski Sheriff's Department revealed they had been involved in several July church burglaries, according to a press release from the department.
John Lee Lykins III and Kyle S. Norling, both of 1381 Hwy. 1674, Somerset, were each charged with six counts of third-degree burglary, five counts of theft by unlawful taking over $500, two counts of theft by unlawful taking under $500, and one count of violating graves.
The men are accused of burglarized four churches between July 13 and July 21, including Hazeldell Church of Christ, Sunrise Baptist Church, Bethlehem Baptist Church, and Ringgold Baptist Church, the release said. Lykins and Norling broke into, and stole items from, the Hazeldell and Sunrise churches twice, the sheriff's department said. The release said the duo also vandalized headstones and footstones in the Bethlehem graveyard.
Lykins and Norling were lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center as of Tuesday afternoon.
