A pedestrian injured in an accident on West Main Street near the Salvation Army Wednesday night was listed in critical condition Thursday, according to a spokeswoman at the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.
Lenox Allen, 37, of Lexington, was crossing the street between Newtown Pike and Old Georgetown Road around 9:05 p.m. when he was hit by a black BMW traveling westbound.
Police said Allen was not walking in a crosswalk. The car was driven by Hazen Christensen, 34, of Lexington, who suffered minor scrapes on his left arm. Christensen was wearing a seat belt, police said.
Police say they do not believe Christensen was using drugs or alcohol, but witnesses told police Allen had consumed alcohol at some point during the day. Police plan to get a blood-alcohol test.
