A Fayette County 2-week-old has been diagnosed with the state's second flu case this fall, according to the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department.
Both cases occurred in Fayette County residents, and both had the H1N1 flu, the health department said.
The department reminded people to get flu shots, recommended for everyone ages 6 months and older. The shot this year covers both the seasonal and H1N1 strains of the flu. To protect infants who can't get the shots, the department urged caregivers and pregnant women obtain the vaccines.
Flu shots are available throughout Central Kentucky, including at the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department. The health department will host Free Flu Friday, a special one-day clinic, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 22 at Applebee's Park.
