Three people were taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital with serious injuries on Wednesday afternoon after a two-vehicle accident in Jessamine County.
Jay McClanahan, 25, and Jonie Wallace, 30, both of Nicholasville, were listed in critical condition as of 6 p.m., according to a spokeswoman at UK Hospital. Phyllis Salyer, 55, of Lexington, was in fair condition.
McClanahan was driving a 2004 Honda passenger car east on West Brannon Road near Legacy Drive, when he lost control of the car and struck the 1998 Toyota passenger car Salyer was driving, Jessamine County Deputy Anthony Purcell said.
McClanahan's car hydroplaned and crossed the center line, struck the Toyota, traveled across the road and hit a tree. McClanahan and Wallace, a passenger in the car, were ejected into a field near the road.
Never miss a local story.
Purcell said the wetness of the road was the primary factor in the accident.
