Richmond police are looking for a man and a woman who police say have passed more than a dozen forged checks at local businesses in the past 10 days.
Fourteen checks totaling $2,207.70 have been passed at Dollar General, Lowe's, Richmond Pawn, Soft Shoe, Redi-Mart, Ace Hardware, Sav-A-Lot, Meijer and Wal-mart. The checks have ranged in amounts from $58.77 to $345.50 and have been used to buy cigarettes, gas, cleaning supplies, clothing, a chainsaw, jewelry and other items, police said.
The checks are drawn on the personal account of a woman who reported that her checkbook was apparently stolen from her vehicle, police said.
The unidentified woman of the forged-check team writes the check and has been accompanied on at least two occasions by the man, police said. The two are reportedly driving a small, light-colored pickup truck.
Never miss a local story.
Anyone familiar with the suspects or having information about the thefts is asked to call Richmond police at (859) 623-1162.
