The 6K Run for Ralph & Ryan brought out 230 runners and walkers and hundreds of onlookers to the Maple Street route between West and East Jessamine High Schools in Nicholasville. Brian Troyer, Jeff Walker, and David Trimble were the top men's finishers, and Libby Barnes, Courtney West, and Cheryl Nesselroade were the top women's finishers. The Oct. 11 event, which was part of the nationwide Second Sunday fitness-awareness day, paid tribute to the memory of local heroes Ryan Robinson and Ralph Sallee. Wesley Village Heroes, Saints and Legends Banquet
Wesley Village Senior Living Community of Wilmore, Ky., has once again honored three Kentuckians whose vigorous and inspiring lives continue to enrich the world. The 13th Annual Heroes, Saints and Legends Awards Banquet was held on Oct. 6, at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Lexington. Honorees at this year’s banquet were Louisville businessman Robert Holloway, and Wilmore physician and missionary Phyllis Corbitt, and United Methodist pastor Harold Dorsey. Proceeds from the evening benefit Wesley Village’s “Celebrate the Difference!” campaign to build Kentucky’s first “small home” for long-term health and memory care. Lake Skate Jam Results
The 2009 Lake Skate Jam was held Oct. 3 at Lake Mingo Park in Nicholasville. The free 17 & under event was sponsored by Loki Skate Shop and YMCA of Jessamine County. Results.
